Historic landscapes are being lost due to improperly controlled irrigation systems. Our Drought Buster Easy Connect rain diverter is attractive, functional, affordable and easy to use. They are lightweight and simple to install. These units are designed to work whenever it rains. With a simple hose attachment, rain water can be diverted to a drip system. A regular garden hose ( recycled ones are best, the old leaky one in the garage) to deep water trees and other landscape features. Just drill 3/16" holes clear through both sides of the hose where you want plants watered or approximately every foot or so. Towns and cities are restricting outdoor water use here in the west and water bills are projected to skyrocket this summer! Some water districts may ban outdoor watering altogether. By using our products you can capture your rainfall for use on your landscape. These simple products will help save older trees and established landscapes in drought areas. Potential Rain Harvest From A Typical Roof Fact Sheet This calculation is based on 1" of rain. If your area receives 10" per year then the results will be multiplied times 10. Average roof size is 2500sq ft. for a home and garage. Approximately 15% will be lost due to evaporation and the initial wetting of the roof. The calculation is as follows: 2500 SF x 1" rain = 360,000 cubic inches of water 1 Gallon = 231 cubic inches of water 360,000 / 231 =1558 gallons 1558 x 85% = 1325 gallons harvested per 1" of rain! This water harvest will go a long way towards helping water needs for your landscape! This gives you approximately 24 fifty-five gallon drums of water to divert every time we receive 1" of rain. Most homes have 4 downspouts. Each downspout would yield an average of 6 fifty-five gallon drums of water per 1" of rain. The Drought Buster Easy Connect system utilizes passive watering. Since it is always ready to flow and the water is not held in a container, all of the harvest can be delivered to your landscape design. No mosquito habitat is created nor are there unsightly holding tanks with the Drought Buster Easy Connect. Our durable product works every time it rains or snows. The owner installed soaker hose is easy to install and can work for years. If a community with 1000 homes were fitted with 4 units per home the water yield would be approximately 13,250,000 gallons in an area that receives 10" of rain a year.
